The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is a key pathway for skilled professionals seeking to immigrate to Canada. One of the central components of the FSWP is the 67-point grid, which is a comprehensive scoring system used to assess the eligibility and potential success of applicants. This grid evaluates various factors of an applicant’s profile and awards points based on their qualifications, skills, experience, and other attributes. The total points obtained help determine an applicant’s eligibility for immigration under the FSWP.

To be eligible for the FSWP, applicants must score at least 67 points out of a possible 100 on the 67-point grid.

Education (Maximum 25 points)

If education is earned within Canada

• For Skilled Workers who attended qualification from school/ college within Canada, a diploma/ degree from secondary institution (high school) or post-secondary institution is required

If education is earned outside Canada

• If the Skilled Workers attended qualification from school/ college outside of Canada, an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) Report from one of the ECA Designated Authorities, for the purpose of immigration is required
• ECA Report showing earned education is equal to a diploma/ degree from a Canadian secondary institution (high school) or post-secondary institution.

Language Proficiency (Maximum 28 points)

For the primary or first official language, skilled workers must achieve a minimum score of Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) level 7 in all four modules. For the secondary or second official language, a CLB or NCLC Level 5 is required

Work Experience (Maximum 15 points)

Foreign Skilled Workers are required to have a minimum of one year of continuous, paid, full-time (or equivalent part-time) work experience within a single occupation in the past 10 years from the date of application submission. Additionally, it is mandatory to have work Experience in one (1) of the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER Categories:

• TEER 0
• TEER 1
• TEER 2
• TEER 3

Arranged Employment in Canada (Maximum 10 points)

In the eligibility point grid of the Express Entry Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), a skilled worker is eligible for 10 points for arranged employment if they meet the following conditions:

• Having a non-seasonal job offer letter from the Canadian Employer that is valid for at least 1 year.
• Received job offer letter is continuous, full-time, and paid.
• Offer job is from the list of occupations under Skill Type “0”, “A”, or “B”, or TEER Category “0”, “1”, “2” or “3”.

In addition to the aforementioned requirements, the skilled worker is required to fulfill one of the conditions outlined below.

Condition 1: Skilled worker should be currently working in Canada on a legal permit, and meet all the requirements:

• Work permit should be valid at the time of applying, till Permanent Resident Visa is issued or skilled worker is allowed to work without a permit in Canada.
• Work permit should be issued on the basis of a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) in a job profile listed under skill type “0” or skill level “A” or “B” of the NOC.
• Skilled worker should be working for an employer named into the work permit.

Condition 2: Skilled Worker is working in Canada in a job, exempted from LMIA Requirement because of the following reason/s:

• Offer job is under international agreement (such as, the North American Free Trade Agreement), or.
• Offer job has significant benefit to Canadian interests or,
• Offer job is a result of federal-provincial agreement.

In addition, it is mandatory for the skilled workers to meet below stated requirements:

• Work permit should be valid at the time of applying, till Permanent Resident Visa is issued or skilled worker is allowed to work without a permit in Canada.
• Skilled worker should be working for an employer named into the work permit.
• Skilled worker should be working for the same employer for at least 1 continuous year as a full-time (or part-time equivalent), paid employee.

Condition 3: Skilled worker do not have any legal work permit, or plan to work in Canada before receiving Permanent Resident Visa, but have a valid LMIA approved job offer letter, offered by a Canadian Employer.

Condition 4: Skilled worker should have a legal work permit or allowed to work in Canada without a work permit. In addition it is also mandatory that a skilled worker should be currently working in Canada in a job that is exempt from a LMIA, but it is not under an international, federal-provincial agreement or because of significant benefit to Canadian interests.

Also, an employer other than the one you are currently working for having LMIA, offered a job based on that LMIA and on you being accepted as a skilled worker.

Adaptability (Maximum 10 points)

Both Primary and Secondary Applicant can earn points for having strong connection within Canada. Point grid for adaptability factors is given below:
