The Skilled Independent Subclass 189 visa is a points-tested permanent visa that is granted to skilled workers who have not been sponsored by an employer, a family member, or a state or territory with a presence in Australia. A minimum of 65 points must be earned on the point assessment in order to qualify for a Skilled Independent visa (Subclass 189).
